I wanted to add a few comments from Steve Cole, one of the Steamboat Ski Resorts' Straighttalkers:

"I was up at 4 a.m. to plow 8 inches so as to get out of the driveway. The 5 a.m. ski report said 9 inches of fresh. At least 1 inch more fell while I was putting on my boots in the parking lot. As the gondola car I was in climbed to Thunderhead the snow became so thick the visibility was reduced to about 15 feet. The sky was falling in on itself, all in the name of powder. Woohoo!!!

Knowing there would be plenty of powderhounds howling for the opening of Storm Peak, I chose Oops to Ted’s Ridge as a first run; 24 inches of pow met me there. Every powder day is tied for first with best ever in my book. This first run, with no one else around and snow blowing up around my waist, certainly was the best ever. Then it was up Thunderhead Express and on to Storm Peak via Vagabond-Surprise. Halfway up Storm Peak the consistency of the snow changed from fantastic to sublime. Sideburns to Sunset was the deepest run I have had yet this year, bonafide face shots.

As I write this the temperature is 21 degrees and the skies are dumping. The best Christmas present ever!!! Get those cards in the mail, finish wrapping the presents and get up to Mt Werner to enjoy some holiday Champagne Powder® snow."

Happy Snowy Holidays!

Yep, thats right it was EPIC up there today folks! Best day of the season yet. WHO WA!!!!

Today you could do no wrong up there on the ski hill. You just let your skis go and the fun flow. It was the kind of skiing that you made fell like Superman.

I am looking forward to getting back up there tomorrow because it is still snowing and the conditions are just going to get better and better!!
